Hamburger Patti’s Ice Cream Parlor all started with a phone call from Chip Tullar’s mother asking him to join her in the adventure of a lifetime. In March of 1977, the Tullar family opened the 20 seat restaurant with Chip and his mother waiting tables and cooking morning until night. Throughout the years, Tullar tenaciously overcame many obstacles to build Patti’s Enterprises, a premier tourist destination in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. One of the most visited restaurants in Kentucky, now known as Patti’s 1880s Settlement, has seating for 400 and employs 200-250 people in a town of only 350 residents. People come from all over for the great food, beautiful gardens and Patti’s great Southern hospitality. Feast on the famous 2" pork chop, flower-pot bread and "mile high" meringue pie. With the log cabin gift shops, animal park for viewing, streams, fountains, Arielle’s miniature golf, rock climbing wall, Adam's remote controlled boats, and Anna's Outdoor Cafe. Patti’s is the hot spot of the Land Between the Lakes. One visit and it is unmistakable why Patti’s 1880’s Settlement was voted #1 People’s Choice of Southern Small Town Restaurants by Southern Living Magazine.

With sales of $8000 its first year, Patti’s now brings in more than 7 million dollars a year. Tullar’s hard work ethic has resulted in many prestigious awards including: 1997’s Kentucky State Small Business Person of the Year and Kentucky Tourism Council Rookie of the Year in 2000. In 1998 he served as the President of the Kentucky Restaurant Association and from 1999 to 2003 served as City Councilman of the Grand Rivers City Council. Tullar’s future plans for Patti’s are to expand the restaurant into a chain and develop a food product line that is sold throughout the country.
